Treatment

Be a treatment advocate

Anyone can be a treatment advocate and help TALC push for better policies that help people living with HIV and AIDS.

TALC has been involved in the creation of a Treatment Advocacy Toolkit especially for Zambian activists, and we will make it available through this site soon.

In the mean time, one simple way for you to become a treatment advocate is to write a letter to a newspaper or television or radio newsroom about an issue that affects people living with HIV and AIDS.

You could also write to your local Member of Parliament about your problem.

The issue might be a personal problem you have faced related to accessing treatment, and could suggest something the government could do to remove the problem.

Or you might want to write about a more general issue that effects all PLHA - such as limited access to testing facilities and lengthy waits for results.

Writing a letter might only take you a short amount of time, and it might not seem like much, but combined with similar efforts by other PLHA, TALC and our members it will add to the growing awareness of treatment issues in Zambia.

Find out how you can contact Zambia's media outlets and politicians from these websites:

Activities for advocates
As TALC rolls out its treatment campaign during the pre-election period we will have lots of opportunities for interested member advocates to get involved.

We plan to make a list of all our activities and jobs so that activists can easily get involved and help us achieve our aim of making HIV and election issue in Zambia.
